Mount Longonot National Park is an extinct volcano rising from the floor of the great rift valley like a monolith located in the southwestern region of Kenya covering a land area of 154 km2. It is one of the most fascinating and with amazing views yet less visited attractions in Kenya. The park is within the Great Rift Valley and it comprises the famous volcano, Mount Longonot, the mountain’s crater, a small ecological forest, and several wildlife, and bird species. A unique feature is a thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. Mount Longonot offers some of the best hiking experiences on the continent, with its great high-rising ranges and great peaks.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Mount Longonot National Park is during the dry season from June to October or from December to February. This time of the year facilitates good hiking weather. However, the park can be visited at any time of the year.
