Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria. It is now known as “The new home of the flamingo “since the year 1992 with a migrant population of over 2million birds. In 2000 it was designated a Ramsar site, establishing it as a wetland of international importance.

The park has bleak Siracho Escarpment, moss-green roll down Lake Bogoria’s rocky, barren shores, while hot springs and geysers spew boiling fluids from the earth’s insides.

Even if the park shows an inhospitable environment it is known for being a habitat of birds and even in Kesubo swamps with a population of more than 200 species of birds. At the southern end of the lake, there is an isolated wooded area that is a habitat of the leopards, klipspringers, gazelles, caracals, and buffaloes even the donkeys and cattle of the neighboring communities. The park offers a place to see the great Kudu due to the lack of dense brush.

In terms of accommodation, the park only offers only camping sleeping options such as;

  • Figtree camp-Located beneath a stand of massive fig trees with a brilliant view down the lake and a hike from the main park road with alone
  • Acaciacamp- A pretty lakeside site shaded by the acacias with some soft grass for pitching
  • Lake Bogoria hotel-Located 2km before the Loboi gate. The hotel has two swimming pools, large bright rooms, modern and more comfortable new cottages, and offers a variety of meals.
